Lucius Calpernius was a teen(?) in Londinium, his father was a wine merchant. One day there was news that the King of Iceni had died and was giving his land to Rome, unfortunately the Iceni followed the “old ways”, in which the Queen is the real ruler. Then came the rumors, the Queen, Boudicca had rallied the tribes and was marching towards Rome, massacring all the cities she came across. Then it was Londinium’s turn. Their one hope was the General, Suetonius Paulinus. When he arrived he said he could not defend them but instead needed more men, Londinium’s last hopes were dashed. As many people as possible were to leave with the soldiers, the few who stayed were to defend the city at all costs. Among the few who stayed were Lucius and his father. Like the other towns it was a massacre. Having been knocked out and left for dead Lucius went and finally caught up to the soldiers and asked for Centurion Gavrus of Londinium, who had been his close friend. The next day there was a battle (except more of a massacre), the Iceni were so confident in their Queen that they drew up their supply wagons behind themselves, cutting off their escape route if they were forced back, and they were. The revolt was finally put down and hacked to pieces. Queen Boudicca drank poison rather than be captured. Lucius joined the Eagles when he was old enough, and won a bracelet with his legion’s badge on it for distinguished conduct. Strangely enough the Second Augustan Legion, his legion, it’s badge was a Capricorn which was also his fathers wine merchant badge. . . . .
Fifth generation?
Lucius Calpernius
one day his father called him into his study and gave him the family bracelet, a bracelet with the Capricorn badge on it that had been passed down from the first of their family to follow the Eagles, another Lucius Calpernius. Later on Lucius went and was posted to Trimontium where he was to take command of the seventh cavalry of the Dacian horse. . . . .
